Cairanne Cultural Heritage The 'Quenin-Constant' family's garden |
This garden is the location of the Marius Constant’s house, destroyed in 1944 by a German shell
during a fight between the German troops in retreat in the Rhone Valley and the French Resistance
elements.
It is a gift of Quenin-Constant family's to the Cairanne community in 2016.
The landscape view from this garden consists of several different political entities until the
XVIIIe century. On the left, the Principauté of Orange owned by a Dutch family Nassau.
In the center the Comtat Venaissin with Sainte Cécile-les-Vignes under the authority of the Pope in Rome.
On the right, the Dauphiné with the powerfull castle of Suze-la-Rousse and on the background the
Languedoc, former provinces of the French Kingdom.
